We now seek a Design Manager to be based out of our London office.
Role Responsibilities
- Use design management delivery tools to monitor and control project coordination arrangements, including reporting on various inputs and outputs for overall project progress tracking and delivery.
- Supports more senior staff within the RED Technology team with delegated tasks in delivery of projects. Typical tasks may include preparation of project reports, action trackers, coordinating multi discipline activity
- Lead Data manipulation of Architecture, MEP, C&S Information together with project support functions.
- Manage the design and interfaces between disciplines and subconsultants
- Carry out independent reading and research to support delivery of projects
- Liaison with various contractors, clients and internal/external consultants regarding delivery of projects
- Ensures document control requirements are fulfilled prior to issue of information by making sure drawings have correct titles etc and are in correct order
- Coordinate teams to deliver coherent and well-rehearsed face to face page turn presentations
- Manage virtual design teams working across multiple times zones
- Quickly understand clients process and develop supporting tool
Role Requirements
- BSC/BEng (or equivalent) in appropriate engineering discipline desirable
- Working towards MCIBSE/MIEE/IMechE/APM PMQ/MCIOB/Prince2 Professional Membership or equivalent
- Working towards Chartered Status desirable
- Desirable background in architectural, engineering, project management consulting or construction
- Experience in project management and engineering track record with some experience of data centres or other large scale mixed-use projects or critical facilities
- Understanding of key disciplines and interactions on a building/data centre project with a track record in at least one of the key disciplines involved in design and construction including; architecture, structures, civils, mechanical, plumbing, fire, electrical, security, telecoms (ICT), sustainability, permitting and environmental
- Knowledge of design management and project management principals, process and reporting methodologies
- Intermediate level in career (3-5 years experience)
- Preparation of presentations and or bid and submission materials.
- Enthusiastic, driven and dynamic self-starter with career progression aspirations
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the design process
- Ability to prioritise own workload
- Ability to work to deadlines
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the design process
- Understanding of UK and European codes and standards.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (word/excel outlook/PowerPoint)
- Understanding of Microsoft Project with a desire to learn to become fully proficient
- Ability to use IT based calculation and spreadsheet software
- Adaptable, proactive approach to engineering tasks
- Ability to step outside A/E consultancy delivery norms and embrace an intensively collaborative design environment working for and reporting daily to an expert client
- Ability to work well, either alone, or as part of a team under own initiative
- Sound knowledge of key Health and Safety issues and legislation
- Able to chair & facilitate meetings at all levels and record key actions.
- Possess exceptional clear communication skills and command of English spoken/written
- Have an appreciation of different cultures/races and embrace the same
- Support the delivery of projects in accordance with the expectations of the RED Project Delivery Process from a Project Management, Financial Management, QA/QC and Technical Review perspective
- To understand and maintain the long terms goals of the business
- To understand the company QA process, maintain and contribute to the same
- Good understanding of international working and business operations of a global consultancy
