We now seek an Infrastructure Operations Engineer to be based out of our London office.
Role Responsibilities
As a senior member of the IT Infrastructure team, you will be assigned project work to design, deploy, and continuously improve the compute and storage environment of the RED IT Infrastructure.
You will co-ordinate with the business in region and participate in the wider expertise teams to effectively plan for the full lifecycle management of the infrastructure in conjunction with your colleagues in the international IT Team.
You will have responsibility for the management of the infrastructure in region and will work closely with the business to ensure predictable and reliable service delivery.
The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented technical expert with strong skills in compute, storage, networking and cyber security who can communicate and work effectively with local business management to deliver a stable and scalable business platform. Prior experience in a similar role would be expected.
As a senior member of the IT Infrastructure team the expectation would be that you will help develop the skills and competencies of junior staff. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential to this role.
- Execute daily/weekly/monthly operations and maintenance duties.
- Proactively identify potential future problems and work with engineering to resolve them
- Implement, review, and update monitoring systems to ensure accuracy of alerts
- Perform continual service improvement
- Respond to assigned Incident and Service Requests (Level 3 support)
- Receive and onboard new systems and growth from the Engineering team once implementation is complete
- Prepare reports for management review
- Implement Change Control requests as approved by the Change Board
- Partner with Information Security team to remediate identified vulnerabilities
- Able to attend the London office 1 day a week or as directed
- Other duties as assigned
Role Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in information systems, computer science or closely related discipline preferred but not essential.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience supporting and maintaining large, distributed infrastructure environments running Windows Server Operating Systems, Systems Administration
- 3+ years of experience in Virtualization: VMware ESX preferred
- An understanding for the need of cyber security
- Experience with change management processes
- ITIL 4 certification a bonus
- Experience with Active Directory, DNS, redundant high availability IT infrastructure support experience across multiple data centres.
- Good understanding of networking fundamentals, including switches and firewalls
- Experience with AWS and/or Azure Cloud a bonus
- Knowledge of tapeless backup technology
- Configuring and managing monitoring and patch management systems
- Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment
- A continuous improvement mindset
- Ability to prioritise own workload to meet deadlines
- Ability to communicate complex IT matters to a non-expert business audience
- Excellent written and verbal communications essential
- Act in an ethical manner and follows the principles of the ethics charter and ethics in practice guidelines
- Good understanding of international working and IT operations of a global consultancy
