We now seek a PlanBEE level 6 Building Services Apprentice. 

This role is only applicable to candidates graduating and completing the PlanBEE scheme in 2024.

Role Responsibilities

  • You will be working towards your Level 6 Building Services Degree Apprenticeship.
  • The role of an Apprentice is to undertake project work as guided by other Engineers, taking delegated responsibility for the preparation of engineering designs for Mechanical or Electrical installations and systems, e.g. sizing of pipes for ventilation systems, sizing of cables for LV systems, etc.
  • Delegated responsibility for the preparation of engineering designs for Mechanical or Electrical installations and systems
  • Attend training as required to obtain relevant qualifications and meet the requirements of the apprenticeship programme
  • Ability to translate the client requirements into workable design that complies with standards and regulations
  • Carry out independent reading and research to support continued personal development and project-based learning
  • Ensure that all document control requirements including basic Quality Assurance checks have been carried out before seeking internal approval of work prior to issue.
  • Liaison with colleagues and external parties
  • Carry out calculations using software programs and produce schedules from the results

Role Requirements

  • A-Level BBC or;
  • BTEC National Diploma DDM or;
  • Access to Engineering qualifications or;
  • Equivalent level 3 qualifications. Level 3 qualifications must include Maths and Physics
  • Applicants must hold 5 GCSEs A-C including Maths and English or equivalent (reformed GCSEs grade 4 or above).
  • Keen interest in engineering and problem solving
  • Keen to learn and develop new skills
  • Ability to prioritise own workload
  • Willingness to work hard to achieve personal goals
  • Ability to work to tight and challenging deadlines as part of a larger team
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Good level of IT skills including the use of Microsoft Office
  • Basic working knowledge of AutoCAD functionality would be beneficial
  • Committed to long-term, part-time study with the aspiration to become a Chartered Engineer
  • Act in an ethical manner and follows the principles of the Ethics Charter and Ethics in Practice Guidelines
